SPAIN – Day 13 – Shopping & Eating in Valencia
A slightly less hectic day in Valencia since we wanted to take it easy – we decided to go to a market in the historic district. Apparently, once a month or so, a lot of vendors crowd the streets in a specific district, and put out stalls upon stalls of merchandise. Seriously, I’ve never seen so many stalls with merchandise in a row. What’s funnier, a lot of people show up for these bargains. Items are very cheap and the merchandise ranges from: jeans, shoes, shoe laces, under garments, t-shirts, cutlery, cookware, books, electronics, wallets, scarves, sunglasses, etc. I bought some red shoe laces for my shoes- about a little more than 1 dollar (after converting)!

Shopping in the market

Very cheap prices all around!
I then saw a comic book store, so I had to go in. A bunch of stuff, and I took photos of some of their action figures and what not on sale. They had Final Fantasy, Mario, Kingdom Hearts, Dragonball, Star Wars, Marvel Comics, etc.

So many figurines

It's Mario and friends!

After walking around some more and checking out some other stores, we got a little hungry. We found a French restaurant called – Restaurant Le Bistrot de François. Remember, they speak Catalan in Valencia. The menu consisted of three options for Entrees – Quiche de Carne Picada y Calabacin (Meat and courgette quiche), Ensalada de pollo, nueces y endivias (Chicken, walnuts and endives salad), o sopa de navo y calabacin (Vegetable soup). Choices for main corses included – Merluze Fresca – pure de patata (fresh hake – potatoe purée), Estofado de ternera “bourguignon” (beef bourguignon), o chuleta de cerdo – salsa romero – pure de patata (Pork chops and potatoe purée). Oh and finally, a choice between two deserts – platanos flambeado (Flambée plantain), fesas frescas con crema pastelera (fresh strawberries and cream), o un pastel de higo (fig cake). To end it all, we had to have a cup of French coffee, hahaha.

We headed to the beach and took it easy for the rest of the day. A wonderful last day in Valencia.

Thanks for posting about this, I would like to read more about this topic.
hello,
Thank you for the great quality of your blog, each time i come here, i’m amazed.
black hattitude.
Hi – really great website you have made. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to write a comment to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically delightful. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor for a merchandising firm. I have always enjoyed working with computers and am trying to learn code in my spare time (which there is never enough of lol).
