A Lighter Day

I love seeing how locals live! What about you!? Today, we went to Chamartin Market to see how local Madrileños buy their basic fruits, vegetables, meats, breads, cheeses, etc! Very cool to go to a more laid-back district and watch people haggle, see old friends, and make conversations with food vendors that they’ve had relationships with for generations!

A day almost lost

Talk about getting a late start on your day, but I guess we were tired from all the walking from the previous day. That said, we saw plenty of the great sites of Madrid: La Plaza de Cibeles, La Puerta de Alcalá, Jardines del Buen Retiro, and of course the main attraction (for fans of fútbol) El Estadio Santiago Bernabéu!

Madrid, a Food Lover’s Paradise

On the first day of our trip, we decided to walk La Gran Via, make our way to the La Plaza Mayor, eat a Bocadillo de Calamares, endulge our sweet tooth with churros con chocolate, visit El Mercado de San Miguel to see a nice high-end market, and even walk around the grounds of El Palacio Real de Madrid.

The beginning of a new journey (Charlotte to Madrid)

Just before any trip to a new place, I get the jitters of excitement and nervousness. Going somewhere new can be thrilling, all the new sites, sounds, and food – seeing how people in another part of the world lives is such an exhilarating learning experience. But…sometimes being lost and being unaccustomed to the aforementioned exciting things can be a bit nerve racking too!
